2010 USATF REGION 9 CHAMPIONSHIP WILL NOT BE HELD

- The Missouri Valley Association was notified today that a determination has been made that, in the best interest of USATF and the Junior Olympics Program, the 2010 USATF Region 9 Championship will NOT be held.
- Accommodations have been made for athletes who qualified for the Region 9 Championship. The top 6 finishers in each event at the 2010 USATF Missouri Valley Association Championship will automatically advance to the 2010 USATF Junior Olympics National Track & Field Championship, which will be held in Sacramento.
- Online Registration for the 2010 USATF Junior Olympics National Track & Field Championship will Open Tuesday, June 29th at 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
- Online Registration will Close Monday, July 5th at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
- When opened, you may register for the 2010 USATF Junior Olympics National Track & Field Championship by clicking on the following Online Registration link www.youthusatf.org.
- The Association will work with the Shocker National Last Chance Meet (USATF Youth & Open), which will be held at Wichita State University, Wichita KS to provide national qualifiers a competitive opportunity within the Missouri Valley Association before the National Championship.

LeTristen Pledger to Competes at Youth Olympics

The Missouri Valley Association of USA Track & Field has announced that LeTristen Pledger, a junior at Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas, will compete at the first Youth Olympics Games in Singapore, August 14-26, 2010, as a member of the Americas Youth Olympic Team. LeTristen, who smashed the 2009 Kansas High School state record in the long jump,, won her spot on the Americas Youth Olympic Team because of her performance at the U.S. Area Youth Olympic Selection Trials held in Arlington, Texas, on April 3, 2010. LeTristen took first place in the long jump and placed third in the 100 meter hurdles at the U.S. Area Youth Olympic Selection Trials.
"We are all very excited that one of our athletes has earned this honor, and all of Kansas City can take pride in LeTristen's selection to the team" said Ken Ferguson, president of the Missouri Valley Association.

MEET DIRECTORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT MEET FOR USATF CALENDAR

The 2010 spring and summer track & field season will mark the second year of an agreement between USATF's Missouri Valley Association and AAU's Missouri Valley Association to plan and coordinate their respective Championship season. Both organizations have agreed not to schedule meets that will directly conflict with Missouri Valley Association Championship and AAU’s Qualifying Meets. The relationship established between USATF and AAU within the Missouri Valley Association is an extension of the working relationship that exists between the organizations at the national level.
Meet Director are encouraged to submit your meet for placement on USATF Missouri Valley Association calendar. However, because of the above agreement, the USATF Association will only place meets on its schedule that do not conflict with AAU's Qualifying meets. If you are interested in placing your meet on the Missouri Valley Association's calendar, Meet Directors must send an e-mail to the Association's Youth Chair, Forika McDougald, or the Association President, Kenneth D. Ferguson, requesting that the meet be placed on the schedule. Meets so requested will be placed on the schedule only if they do not directly conflict with an AAU Qualifying meets within the Missouri Valley Association.
