2005 Outdoor Season
Kerron Clement   Sanya Richards

Kerron took the outdoor season’s men’s Visa Champion title in impressive style, beating out Justin Gatlin who boasted a duel win of the 100 and 200 meters at the Outdoor Championships in addition to a fine performance at the Nike Prefontaine Classic. Kerron’s 400m hurdle time of 47.24 (a personal best) earned him 1261 points and a narrow victory over Gatlin and John Godina at 1253.   Sanya Richards 400m  time of 49.28 made her the third fastest American of all time. The Championship-record time gave Sanya 1226 points. Richards run broke a record held since 1997 by Jearl Miles-Clark.
